About Directway Atelier

We set out to remove noise from art education. Our modules are clear, self-contained, and rooted in studio practice—allowing you to build a focused, resilient workflow.

Our story

Founded by painters who balanced gallery deadlines with teaching, Directway Atelier grew from a simple idea: make the path to competent painting direct, kind, and modular. We drew heavily from Scandinavian clarity—thin borders, generous whitespace, and respect for pace.

Mission

Provide a trustworthy curriculum where each block teaches one practical capability: mix, lay, adjust, refine. No gimmicks—just reliable process you can repeat with confidence.

What “modular” means

You can start anywhere and weave modules into a path that matches your goals: portraits, landscapes, abstracts, or murals. Each module clearly states its outcomes, time, and materials.

Team

Elin Madsen — Program Director

Elin curates the modular stack and ensures cohesion across media. She taught color and composition at community studios for a decade.

Jonas Rydell — Lead Mentor, Oils

Jonas focuses on layering, glazing, and archival methods, with a calm emphasis on process discipline.

Ava Bennett — Techniques & Labs

Ava builds short, repeatable labs for brushwork, textures, and experimental surfaces that keep practice grounded.

Where to begin

If you’re a beginner, start with Color Foundations and Brushwork Basics. If you already paint, jump into the labs to sharpen a specific technique.
